Threads
Threads depicts the disastrous
consequences to Britain of a nuclear war. The story is told from the perspective
of two families living in the city of Suffield. Based on scientific, medical,
agricultural and psychological research, the film graphically illustrates
the collapse of civilization into horrifying chaos. The title refers to
the intricate web of civil structures unsustainable in the aftermath of
Armageddon - food production and distribution, government, medical care,
communications, industry, and transportation - all revert to prehistoric
levels. Laced with facts about the impact of nuclear war, Threads informs
as it provokes.
