An Alzheimer's Story

An Alzheimer's Story follows the family of an Alzheimer's patient for two years. When we first meet the Jasper family, it is apparent that Anna Jasper has difficulty remembering. Her husband, Jack, is devastated when he learns that Anna is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. As her condition declines, Jack and his daughter, Zena, are faced with the heart-breaking task of placing Anna in a nursing home for her own safety. The story is told without narration. The documentary images portray Anna as the beautiful and strong woman she once was, contrasting the traumatic decline that has since occurred. At the beginning of the film, when Zena tells her mother she loves her, Anna answers with a hug and a kiss. But by the end of the film, Anna is no longer able to respond. This film offers a very realistic portrayal of the tragedy of senile dementia for Alzheimer's victims and their families.
