Elder Vision: Don't Throw
It Away

Hosted by Ruth Abrams, Eldervision features seniors of Brookline Massachusetts as role models who show how it is possible to expand their lives in the later years. The episode entitled Don't Throw it Away! features Brookline residents Roy and Ann Freed as they discuss how to turn discarded items, such as bent nails, into works of art. Showcasing several original pieces of artwork, the Freeds describe the symbolic meanings behind their work, which is often politically motivated. Roy also visits elementary school classrooms and helps young children explore the world of creative thinking. Then he urges them to articulate their own interpretations of his art. The Freeds encourage older viewers to seek interesting activities, look at objects with a new eye, and think twice before they throw anything away.
