Lillian

Lillian is the fictional portrait of Lillian Foley. This video uses many of the techniques of the documentary genre; however, it is a fiction film. Lillian is a fifty-seven-year-old African-American foster caregiver whose house and life are filled with neglected children and aging adults who can no longer care for themselves. One group has been abandoned by their parents, while the other by their children. All their lives revolve around Lillian. This is the touching story of a single day in the life of a brave woman, determined to provide for her extended family against difficult odds. On this particular day she prepares the children for school, plans a birthday party, negotiates insurance payments, prepares meals, and is involved in other daily events of this extended family. Confronting sensitive social issues that surround life and death, race and class, this film demonstrates what one person and the power of love can accomplish.
