        Sonny and Cornblatt
         Sonny Jackson and Harry Cornblatt
are two elderly men who appear to definitely dislike one another. When
Harry's wife dies, Sonny (a widower himself) tries to befriend Harry,
but Harry is far from receptive to his overtures. As time progresses,
Harry submits towards Sonny's gruff and somewhat forceful attempts of
friendship. Insults shouted through an open window lead to card games,
long walks, and shared dinners. As the two men become more comfortable
together, Sonny offers Harry the hope that meaning and love still exist
in this world even though he will never stop missing his departed wife.
Unwillingly, Harry begins to realize the truth to Sonny's words, as he
is able to reach out to a young boy desperately in need of the wisdom
and traditions only he can offer. What results is a sensitive, comic,
and sometimes combative story of one man's struggle to convince the other
that life and friendship are precious at any age.
