That Certain Age: Exploring the New
Dimensions of Aging; Seniors and Sexuality
An ordained minister, who is a professor
of human sexuality, and a national training director for a major corporation
join the host of the television show That Certain Age: Exploring the
New Dimensions of Aging. In this episode on Seniors and Sexuality,
they discuss society's ambivalent attitude toward sexuality in older people.
Asserting that sexuality is a normal and healthy need for people of any
age, they suggest that youthful sexuality is preparation for a more mature
and multi-faceted experience. This video pinpoints ways that older people
can feel more fulfilled both physically and psychologically. They suggest
expanding how one defines sexuality to include a more creative, multi-sensual
experience. Self-pleasure, massage, fantasy, and human touch are some
of the methods they have explored to help keep the senses alive and to
counteract depression.
