The Wash

Love knows no age boundaries when a sixty-five-year-old Asian woman's decision to leave a long, unhappy marriage catapults her into a fulfilling relationship with a recent widower. The Wash, a fiction film, originally appeared on American Playhouse. Intertwined throughout the story are the intergenerational struggles with her two fully Americanized adult daughters: first, to accept their restructured family and then, to enter into a more mature relationship with their parents. The film displays an enduring, entertaining and tender portrait about the joy and agony of loving, of letting go, and the rediscovery of love. Set in "Japantown," of San Jose, California, this program contains a very distinguished cast of Asian-American actors, Academy Award and Tony nominee Mako and award-winning actress Nobu McCarthy.
