Apocalypse Now - The Complete Dossier - 2 Disc Special Collector's Edition

Francis Ford Coppola's masterpiece about the moral madness of the Vietnam War was inspired by Joseph Conrad's novella, HEART OF DARKNESS. Captain Willard (Martin Sheen) is sent into the Cambodian jungle to "terminate with extreme prejudice" Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando), who has become insane and now runs his own kingdom of darkness. Coppola nearly went bankrupt financing this film and Martin Sheen suffered a heart attach while filming. Also stars Robert Duvall, Frederic Forrest, Albert Hall, Sam Bottoms, Laurence Fishburne and Dennis Hopper.

"...'Apocalypse Now' is the best Vietnam film, one of the greatest of all films, because it pushes beyond the others, into the dark places of the soul. It is not about war so much as about how war reveals truths we would be happy never to discover."---Roger Ebert

This collection presents both the 1979 original and the 2001 restored and updated version, with 49 minutes of never-before-seen footage, a Technicolor enhancement, and a six-channel soundtrack.

Selected for the Library of Congress National Film Registry of American Film.
