The Bicycle Thief

Vittorio de Sica's film is a classic from the post World War II Italian Neorealist cinema. A simply and beautifully told story about the attempts of Antonio (Lamberto Maggiorani)--a penniless bicycle messenger--to find his stolen bicycle, which was his only way of providing for his family. The resulting journey, taken with his son Bruno (Enzo Staiola) explores the turbulent world of post war Italy.
