Citizen Kane - Special Edition 2 Disc Set


Citizen Kane
is a landmark of cinema history. The story charts the rise and fall of a newspaper publisher whose wealth and power, which ultimately isolates him, to a life, lived primarily alone, in his enormous castle. Many aspects of the production were advances in film language. The cinematographer, Gregg Toland most effectively and stunningly use of deep focus. While much of the narrative is told with flashbacks and newsreel footage. The script was largely written by Herman L. Mankiewicz and it features a remarkable ensemble of actors from Welles's Mercury Theatre: Joseph Cotten, Everett Sloane, and Agnes Moorehead.

Selected for the Library of Congress National Film Registry of American Film.
