Manhattan

A comedy concerning an angst-ridden television comedy writer turned serious novelist, his 17-year-old lover, his ex-wife, his guilt-torn philandering friend, and his friend's journalist girlfriend. Manhattan is one of Allen's most mature works, with deeper characters and more fundamental sentiment than previously seen in his films. The film combines cinematographer Gordon Willis's black-and-white photography with a lush soundtrack provided by George Gershwin Stars Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Michael Murphy, Mariel Hemingway, and Meryl Streep.
