2001: A Space OdysseyDirector and co-screenwriter with Arthur C. Clarke, Stanley Kubrick has created a visual and aural spectacle that stands as one of the hallmarks of American film. The film begins with the "Dawn of Man", and then ventures into the future, taking a look at what the world might be like 2001. Kubrick's film is a triumph of technological storytelling, a marvel of its time. It is built with visual, not verbal language. Rarely punctuated by dialogue, this film uses sound and image in a completely new way in 1968. Selected for the Library of Congress National Film Registry of American Film.
