Complaints of a Dutiful Daughter

Director Deborah Hoffmann presents a life-affirming exploration of family relations, aging and change, the meaning of memory, and love in her video chronicling the various stages of her mother's Alzheimer's Disease. With profound insight and a healthy dose of levity she allows us to see the difficulties they encounter brought about by the progression of the disease, but we also come to see their ability to finally live in the moment. In an ironic and heartwarming turn of events, her mother eventually forgets about her prejudice against Deborah's life as a lesbian and joyfully embraces her longtime domestic partner.
