He Wo Un Poh:
Recovery in Native America

Reclaiming the Native American identity and spirituality is the focus of the seven individuals featured in this video. A member of the Santa Clara Tewa Pueblo and a recovering alcoholic herself, filmmaker Beverly Singer has brought together these Native Americans of different ages to reveal their struggles with alcohol and drug abuse and the troubled circumstances that led them there. In candid interviews, they speak of the painful consequences to their actions, mainly, family break-ups, lost jobs, and jail. The path that led them back to recovery was aided by support from their community and treatment centers.
