Margaret Sanger:
A Public Nuisance
Using vaudeville skits, courtroom sketches, reenactments, video effects,
actual films and Margaret Sanger's own words, this video provides a
witty history of the early years of the women's health movement and
the right for birth control. Margaret Sanger was a home nurse and midwife
in the early 1900's who went up against a patriarchal system, and specifically
New York's Comstock Laws which made it illegal to distribute anything
designed to prevent conception. Her arrest and trial was an important
hallmark in showcasing women's health and economic well-being. Directed
by Teresa Svoboda and Steven Bull.
