A
Breath: Surviving the 20th Century in China - Currently
Unavailable
The turbulent history of modern China,
as viewed through the experiences of two artists. The calligrapher Huang
Miaozi and his wife, the painter Yu Feng, are now in their eighties and
have been married since 1944. They are renowned throughout Asia and their
work is represented in major collections around the world. But war, revolution,
and cultural repression kept them apart from each other and from their
children for many years (both served prison terms during the Cultural
Revolution). In the late seventies, they were able to resume their lives
and their art. They began traveling abroad and settled in Australia in
1989. Curator's
