Picasso - Currently Unavailable

Presents works by Spanish painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) and shows the places where he lived and worked. Illustrates the full range and development of his art, using writings by André Breton, André Malraux, Michel Leiris, and Jean Cocteau. Focuses on paintings in the Musée Picasso in Paris, which is made up of works that Picasso had kept for himself, his personal legacy. Includes some footage from Henri Clouzot's 1955 film THE MYSTERY OF PICASSO.

Curator's Comments: Picasso is a giant among modern artists and there are literally hundreds of films about him. This one offers a comprehensive review of Picasso's work, with intelligent commentary. The art is shown well (originally shot in 35mm), and the film holds our interest. Good for all audiences interested in modern art.
