Siqueiros: Artist and
Warrior - Currently
Unavailable
The life of Mexican muralist David Alfaro
Siqueiros (1896-1974) was one of passion, political commitment and controversy,
perilous adventure, and prolific artistic achievement. Together with Diego
Rivera and Jose Orozco, Siqueiros was a leader in the Mexican mural movement
and the most politically active of the three. Siqueiros was forced into
exile on several occasions because of his political activities in various
countries. He spent some time in the United States where he painted a
controversial workers' mural at the Chenard School in Los Angeles, which
was erased. He also painted a mural in the home of film director Dudley
Murphy in Santa Monica before being deported from the U.S. A revolutionary,
innovative, and talented creator, Siqueiros regarded his life and his
art as a battle with himself and against social injustice. Narrated by
Ricardo Montalban.
